MEDICAL TATTOOING
Restorative artistry for healed skin and personal renewal.
Medical and paramedical tattooing may reduce visible color contrast or recreate natural-looking details. It does not erase a scar, change scar texture, or guarantee an exact skin-tone match.
Who may benefit?
- Post-mastectomy and breast reconstruction clients
- Gender-affirming surgery clients
- Clients with fully healed surgical, injury, or burn scars
- Clients with mature stretch marks or acne scarring
- Clients experiencing pigment contrast or stable pigment loss
- Clients experiencing hair loss or thinning
What may it address?
- Scar and stretch mark camouflage
- 3D areola restoration
- Scalp micropigmentation
- Hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation contrast
- Stable vitiligo, when appropriate and medically cleared
SCAR CAMOUFLAGE
Blending color contrast in mature scars.
Custom-blended pigment is placed into suitable scar tissue over one or more sessions to help the area appear closer in color to the surrounding skin. Strong candidates generally have flat, stable scars that are fully healed—often at least 12–18 months old. Raised, red, changing, or symptomatic scars may need medical evaluation or other treatment first.
3D AREOLA RESTORATION
Dimension created through color and shading.
Specialized pigment, color blending, and shading can recreate the visual appearance of a nipple and areola on healed tissue after mastectomy, reconstruction, reduction, augmentation, or
gender-affirming surgery. The design is customized for color, size, shape, and placement. Surgical clearance may be required, and service availability is confirmed during consultation.
STRETCH MARK CAMOUFLAGE
Softening contrast—not changing texture.
Carefully matched pigment may reduce the contrast of mature, light-colored stretch marks against a stable surrounding skin tone. The treatment does not remove stretch marks or make
the skin physically smooth. Seasonal tanning, healing response, and pigment changes can affect
the final appearance.
SCALP MICROPIGMENTATION
The appearance of density without hair regrowth.
SMP uses layered micro-impressions to recreate the visual appearance of natural follicles on the scalp. It may help reduce visible scalp contrast across partial thinning, half-scalp or full-density areas, hairlines, crowns, and suitable scars. SMP does not regrow hair or stop future hair loss; the design and coverage plan are confirmed during consultation.
CHOOSING AN ARTIST
Training, safety, and honest expectations matter.
Review healed work—not only fresh procedure photos.
Ask about specialized training and color-theory experience.
Confirm facility and operator permits and infection-control practices.
Choose an artist who discusses limitations, risks, and aftercare.
PRE-CARE & ELIGIBILITY
Prepare well. Heal with confidence.
Permanent makeup is a cosmetic tattoo procedure. Safe treatment begins
with honest health disclosure, appropriate candidacy, and careful preparation before your appointment.
01
Cannot be serviced
PMU treatment will be postponed or declined if you:
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Are undergoing chemotherapy or radiation
- Have infection, open wounds, or irritation in the area
- Have uncontrolled diabetes or a contagious illness
- Have used Accutane within the previous 12 months
- Have a history of keloid or hypertrophic scarring
- Had Botox or filler in the area within the previous 2 weeks
02
Medical clearance may be required
Please disclose all medical conditions and medications if you:
- Take anticoagulants or other blood-thinning medication
- Have an autoimmune disorder
- Have epilepsy or a seizure disorder
- Have a heart condition or take related medication
- Are prone to slow healing, infection, or unusual scarring
Never stop prescribed medication unless the prescribing clinician tells you to do so.
03
Before your appointment
- Avoid alcohol and caffeine for 24 hours
- Disclose aspirin, ibuprofen, fish-oil supplements, and other products that may affect bleeding; follow your clinician's instructions about whether any change is appropriate
- Do not tan; arrive without sunburn in the treatment area
- Avoid facials, chemical peels, and exfoliation for 1 week
- Avoid waxing or threading the area for at least 3 days
- Arrive with minimal makeup on the treatment area
04
What to expect
PMU is commonly completed as a two-step process
- A perfecting visit may be recommended after 6–8 weeks
- Fresh brows usually appear darker and more defined
- Color commonly softens as the area heals
- Surface and pigment healing may take approximately 4–6 weeks
Healing timelines and the amount of color softening vary by client; percentages and exact outcomes cannot be guaranteed.
05
Aftercare responsibility
Following the written aftercare provided at your appointment is essential. Picking, scratching, excess moisture, sun exposure, or using unapproved products may contribute to poor retention, uneven healing, infection risk, or the need for additional paid touch-ups.
06
Results disclaimer
Permanent makeup is long-lasting but gradually fades. Results vary with skin type, health, lifestyle, sun exposure, skincare, and aftercare. No exact healed result can be guaranteed, and additional sessions may be needed to reach the desired result.
